Remember New Year all year

Carol says:
"It's easy to forget the positivity and hope that fills the world at New Years. Imagine if we remembered that feeling and lived it all year, rather than being sucked into the stress and angst of work and relationships."

I agree with Carol. It would be wonderful to harness the enthusiasm and passion for life, that just seems effortless at the edge of a new beginning - whether it be a new year, new love, new job.

I find this does shift in intensity when the newness passes. Some might argue that such intensity cannot be maintained and will inevitably wax and wane as we move through each day, week and month, with many ordinary and fewer extra-ordinary experiences.

For me, it has become a challenge to capture some of that effortless enthusiasm for what the day will bring. It is all to easy to just go through the motions like ticking off a list of jobs, all in the name of efficiency.

The passion sparked at the beginning of a new year is only remembered when I take time to reflect on the vision I had for the year and celebrate the experiences lived and the achievements made.

It is good to remind ourselves of how great that feels and find ways to sustain that feeling throughout the year.
